Value of the iPad.

Value of the iPad.

Rick Schwartz gives his opinion of the iPad.

“I will be buying several. Not sure just how many. One for the cocktail table. One for the bedroom. One for the bathroom. But forget about me, I see UPS getting rid of their clunky piece of crap that they use all day and replace with this. I see many companies adapting a system of ipads based on a single app that changes how they do business. I see this as a computer with no lid. I see this as a remote control to control more things than I have even thought about. I see one of these being built in to every room in every new home to REALLY make a “Smart House” that you can really control from anywhere and do it for  fraction of the cost today. One app will change how we view the ipad. One use. One idea.” – Rick Schwartz

Apple + Simplicity = Technical Migration

Why the iPad is going to kick ass (the short version)

Unique opportunities are awaiting those who see the value of investing R&D, marketing and future strategies into the iPad/iPhone/iPodTouch as a business tool. Well-known successful companies are reeling from the financial surprise resulting from the antiquated IBM and Microsoft world of yesteryear. The technology gap presents opportunity for nimble, young companies to participate in the new-age of information consumption and personal socialization. The quick and nimble, tech-savvy are defining artistic, social, business and lifestyle standards which influence the new, more sophisticated generation.

Migration occurs in masses when those who are slow to adapt need to catch up.

These technologies consist of the following: internet, computers, communication, socialization, marketing, business, entertainment and all other long-tail popular trends directly associated.

Apple + Simplicity = Technical Migration

The iPod, iPodTouch, iTunes and young people were Apple’s Trojan Horse into millions of homes world wide. Apple’s beautiful user-interface (UI), brilliant software and awesome hardware is allowing them to expand the reach of their brand beyond the classically trained Word, Excel, PPT trained MS loyalists and into the hands of  new technology users.

People are looking for a kick ass experience…  and that’s why “Apple is Cool”.. or  “A Brand”.

It’s easy to see why the relationship between hardware and software is so critical. The best UI experience is measured by simplicity. To me, Apple represents and respects simplicity.

Apple is changing how we compute, communicate and experience the world. The fluid interaction of the touch based UI will redefine the standard of all information interaction. Tactile Keyboard Only input is out. Touch Does More.

Apple’s proactive lead into UI design provides a benchmark. Developers begin by looking to Apple as the standard. Apple is sending a message to developers/designers that the iPad is different from other Apple devices. Apple has pretty much gone “All-In” with the iPad.  I feel Apple’s investment in the development of iWork (Keynote, Pages and Numbers) as the iPad introduction application says a lot about Apple’s strategy  into the enterprise environment. It’s a shot across the bow of Microsofts’s Business Platform.

To date Apple has developed the following iPhone/iPodTouch applications: MobileMe Gallery, MobileMe iDisk, Keynote Remote, Remote, Texas Hold’em.

The iWork software redesign is the “Battle Cry” to developers that the iPad is a serious device.

Apple is also changing software standards that compliment its operating system(s). This became evident with the omission of  Flash support for the iPhone/iPodTouch. Apple is about simplicity, and Flash was getting complicated. Is Apple the bully or innovator? I don’t believe Adobe designed Flash as the invincible web standard for delivering web expeiriences. If they did, they failed. Flash is cool, but it wasn’t meant for mobile hardware.

Apple believes that there is a better way and they are hinting with a creative approach. The intro of the Safari browser start up screen animation was built in HTML 5.

If you think the iPad is just another device, think again.

Remember when Apple decided there was an easier way to do music? movies? photos? cell phones?

Now Apple is providing books, news papers, magazines, etc… if I missed something important, there’s probably an app for that.

The iPad is for business, as much as it is for your everyday lifestyle. Apple is the new standard when it comes to computing. Apple is the new standard when it comes to lifestyle. Apple is the new standard when it comes to doing business. It’s simple, fast and you would recommend it to your great-grandma.

It’s game time.

Apple long….

In early February of 2009, I decided to average down my position in Sirius (SIRI) and let it ride.

The juxtaposition of short covering & Institutional buying will intensify like the momentum of a shit-load of dominos tumbling.

Samsung NX10

This should be interesting. Using the form and function of a DSLR with a new auto-focus algorithm.

Uses an OLED display with a medium sized sensor (23.6mm x 15.7mm). + 3 available lenses.

“Compact point-and-shoot cameras, which do not have mirror boxes, feel slow because they use the same image sensor to provide an image on the LCD and to autofocus using a slower system called contrast measurement. The Samsung NX10 will use this same process, but has developed a new autofocus algorithm that speeds up contrast measurement and includes autofocus speeds like that of a D-SLR.” – via pcmag.com

This might be a nice little hip shooter.
